YIMP2 (1999)
This is a utility I created to generate wallpaper initially just as a tool to quickly generate tileable wallpaper from an image. It isn't being actively developed at the moment, but if I get some positive feedback I might...
Key features would include the ability to merge two image together into one tile pattern; to combine multiple effects together; and to easily browse your image files with the integral file browser.
Image effects include:
- Monochrome - shades the image from the current background colour through to the darkest shade in the image
- Watermark - shades the image from the current background colour through to the lightest shade in the image
- Grayscale - remove colour (saturation) from the image
- Filter - filter the image using the current background colour
- Negative - apply a photographic negative effect to the image
- Fade - frame your image with an oval fade-out (blend to a background colour)
File formats that are supported are only JPEG, GIF and BMP ast 24-bit colour depth.
There are crop, resize, revert and commit which are very basic in their implementation.
You can also preview the images tiled and there is a short-cut to make the current image your active Windows wallpaper (this may not work in all Windows versions).
The program itself is self-contained, and will runs from anywhere without altering your Windows registry or putting files in Windows system directories.
